SCHOLARSHIP AND WORK GUARANTEE FOR TEXTILE ENGINEERING STUDENTS
University education is so important for denim sector. Because denim or textile sector wants to be expertise. We need the qualified employees for our production also. The machine’s usefullness and quality is the important point for textile sector. The appearance of the jeans depends on these machines. So we need to textile engineers. Also we should create a better workplace for our engineers. But we do not need male engineers only but also we need female engineers. We need to increase the number of female engineers and the female labor force participation rate. As a result of these requirements Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Assosiation (İTHİB) signed a contract with Higher Education Institution (YÖK) for increasing textile engineers numbers.

Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Assosiation (İTHİB) signed a contract with Higher Education Institution (YÖK). In oder to cover the shortage shortage of qualified engineers in the textile and raw materials sector, İTHİB signed a contract with YÖK.
In textile and raw materials sector which is the highest value added sector, there are some problems with finding qualified engineers. Textile sector trying to overcome from this problem. The Textile Sector Board organizing some improvements for to increase in perception of this sector and to contribute to young people’s developments. Later the Textile Sector Board Education Committee met the Highest Education Institution. They started to draw a map for sector way. All industry stakeholders came together to create the assessment found that about these workshops. Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Assosiation’s Chief Executive (İTHİB) Ahmet Öksüz says; ‘’ The university’s textile engineering faculty has been losing its values for years. Because of the negative perception of this faculty, the students are not prefer this faculty anymore. In this situation, There is no problem to finding a job for textile engineers but finding qualified engineers is a big problem in this sector and this problem increases day by day. The quota of this year, was below in the target. We started a program which is scholarship and job guarantee for increasing quality and quota. We will see the effects of this program in the next year. We made a cooperation with YÖK. We are going to give scholarship and job quarantee to the students. But the important point is the student’s success. If the student succeed, the scholarship is also continue. The student’s 7 period will pass in school. The remaining 1 period will pass in industry. After 1 year, if the students successful they are going to find an opportunity to continuing their job. We are looking with hope to the future. We should decrease the current account deficit therefore we need many qualified engineers.
Textile Engineering Figures in University
Interest in textile engineering is declining with each passing day. The figures also supports our sentences. Textile engineering faculty last year had a 86% occupancy rate. But in 2018 this figures also decreasing to %42 In 2017 312 students placed in Textile Engineering but this year the number of students who wants to starting in Textile Engineering faculty is 228. The textile sector is the shining star of Turkey. So we are going to make so many projects for increasing this sector’s quality.
‘REVERSE MIGRATION’ PROJECT FOR SOLUTION TO UNEMPLOYMENT
Öksüz said; ‘There are many young people living in the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions who receive unemployment salary. Unemployment salary is just only 600-700 Turkish liras. But they should work somewhere and they should get minumum wages. State should continue to giving unemployment salary but the employer should complete it. Turkey and this sector needs to do it. We can make work places to this areas. Our main purpose is to work with theese young people. This month we will do negotiations with the ministries. This project will also reduce the internal migration in the country. Our second purpose is to increasing women’s employment. For the ‘Reverse Migration’ project we will also talk with Ministry of Labor, Social Services and Family, and we will present this project to Trade Ministry.’
IN TEXTILE THE MAIN MARKET IS AVRUPA
Ahmet Öksüz reminded; ‘We produces textile sector raw materials. If we add the indirect export, we have a potential to reaching 20 billion dollars in a year. Germany is the country which we fulfill the exports mostly. United Kingdom, Italy And America comes after the Germany. Our main Money comes from Europe. Export to America is so hard but also there is 2 % increasing in this area.’ Textile sector conribute 15 billion dollar to decreasing current account deficit. For Turkey, we should decrease the foreign trade deficit. But for this purpose we should increase the exports . İt is also so important for us. In addition, ın 2019 we think about the organize a fabric fuar. And we will think about to make a customer focus organization. We are believe that we can get a quick response if we fulfill these organizations.
